The Codes
FOUR NAMESISRC names a recording (issued with distribution, or via a registrant). ISWC names a composition (issued when a PRO/publisher registers the work). Writers are the humans who wrote it. Publishers administer composition rights — U-Rock® Records publishing runs through BMI.
PRO Membership
JOIN ONEJoin ASCAP or BMI as a writer (one, not both, per writer) and register your works. Unregistered works earn nothing when broadcast — the money is collected and sits unclaimed. If U-Rock® Records signs you, label-side publishing is handled through BMI; your writer membership is still yours.
